Unfortunately Mike Epps won’t be getting another go on his series Uncle Buck with ABC. It was confirmed today that the show which also starred Nia Long, and James Lesure won’t be returning for a second season. The show highlighted Epps bringing back to life the role once made popular by the late John Candy.

Star James Lesure first revealed the news on Twitter Wednesday, writing, “Disappointed. No more @ABCUncleBuck. Cancelled. Thankful to have worked with @ABCNetwork. Proud of what we’ve done. Thx 4 let us entertain u.” ABC then confirmed the cancellation. The season one finale of “Uncle Buck” aired Tuesday night. ABC had run off the eight-episode season over the course of four weeks, airing two episodes a night on Tuesdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m. Just an hour before word came of the cancellation, ABC issued a press release touting ratings for the series, which averaged 3.8 million total viewers in Nielsen live-plus-same day numbers, an 81% lift from ABC’s performance in the same time period over the course of the same four weeks a year ago. “Uncle Buck” also averaged a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demo, more than double ABC’s average from a year earlier.
