For a new installment of The 85 South Show, Deon Cole calls into the studio to speak with Karlous & DC about his recent endeavors and success. They cover Deon’s role on Black-ish, newest Comedy Central special, Barbershop: The Next Cut, and advice for up-comings, and more.
In one part of the interview, DC ask Deon on what advice he would give the next generation of comedians. Deon went to share the importance of staying original.
You make sure that you are original…. everybody has their own perspective. It’s the same wheel different rim. You just keep doing you… Can’t nobody do you… It’s about who you are.
Lastly when asked about his success and future moves, Deon went on to share advice learned from Steve Harvey.
I ain’t going to even lie to you, I keep my head so low.. Steve Harvey taught me that. He was like, “Don’t marvel in your success, let that success catapult another success, then you let success catapult another success. That’s why you see me on the radio, doing the family feud, and the book, I don’t marvel at it…”
Take a listen to Deon share how he started from humble beginnings at Def Comedy Jam to being invited into The White House. New episodes of The 85 South Show presented by Comedy Hype, can be found on iTunes & Soundcloud.
