We’ve seen Capone hit the stages over the years on Shaq All-Star Comedy Jam, Apollo Theater, and throughout New York City. Now the veteran comedian has teamed up with independent filmaker Alrik Bursell of Bursell Poroductions to deliver a short horror film to add to his resume. The project entitled Brother features Capone along with actors Dezi Soley and David O’Donnell in a film that tells the story of an overprotective brother (Capone) who deals with his sister’s suitors in a different way.
For the film, Capone who mainly resides in New York made the trip to Oakland, CA to bring Bursell’s vision to life. Bursell went on to explain the first steps with Comedy Hype on getting Capone involved.
I approached Capone at a local comedy club after one of his shows and asked if he wanted to star in a short film. He said yes. I pitched him the next day and he signed on the project which we shot about two months later.
For the short that made it’s way to this year’s Oakland International Film Festival, we immediately are put into the storyline of a loving couple who get’s a visit from Capone (aka Brother). As Capone gets better acquainted with his sister’s newest boyfriend he grows slightly agitated and that’s when we see the film’s Horror side. The ten minute film was created 100% independently, and according to Bursell is a tribute to shows like the Twilight Zone.
Pull up a chair and enjoy Brother starring Capone Lee from Bursell Productions.
