Last night apart of this year’s Emmys; Sketch duo Key & Peele ended up having two big moments at one time. As mentioned Damon Wayans stopped by as a presenter and ended creating an iconic moment as he took to the stage to present the award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series. This was a moment to remember as Damon’s career is known to be covered in highlights with In Living Color, and Saturday Night Live.
Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele were able to bring their dearly departed Comedy Central series Key & Peele with a bang tonight, as the show’s final season won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series tonight at the 68th Emmy Awards. It was a great sendoff for the series, which had only picked up one previous Emmy, for Outstanding Makeup. “This is crazy,” Peele said accepting the award.” We have to thank Comedy Central for putting this on the air.” Key for his part ran down a long list of people to thank that included everyone in involved with the show, while Peele thanked “everybody for watching the show, for going home and sharing the show with their loved ones.” On what the duo will miss most about their show, “The opportunity to make comedy for us is more than just laughter, it’s a way to reveal hypocrisy and injustice in this world” remarked Peele backstage. “There’s a big piece of our voice missing without Key and Peele but we are so honored that we get to share what we do with the world”.
